Marketing Automations
Overview
Automations are "set and forget" messages WAJ sends automatically whenever a matching event happens — booking confirmations, reminders, birthday messages, and more. Workflows extend this with a visual, node-based builder for automation logic that goes beyond the fixed Automations list.
Automations
Go to Marketing → Automations. Each automation appears as a card with its own on/off toggles for WhatsApp and Email, and — for booking-related automations — separate toggles for in-salon bookings versus online bookings. Turn on what you want active and tap Save Changes. Tap any card to open its details, edit the message content, and review a History of past sends.
Booking Management: Booking Confirmation, Booking Cancellation, Booking Reminder, Aftercare, Rescheduling, No Show.
Customer Relationship Management: Welcoming New Customers (first-time clients), Loyalty Points (notifies customers when they earn, redeem, or have points reversed — WhatsApp only).
Events: Birthdays (optionally with a special offer), Churn Prevention (a win-back message to customers who look like they're drifting away).
Editing an automation uses the same message editor as Templates — a variables sidebar lets you insert personalization tokens like customer name or appointment time, with a live WhatsApp-style preview, and for email, a drag-and-drop canvas with its own preview.
Workflows
Go to Marketing → Automations → Workflows and tap New Workflow to open the canvas builder. A workflow has two parts:
Trigger — how the workflow starts: an Event (a booking created, confirmed, checked out, cancelled, no-showed, or rescheduled; a checkout or spend event, optionally for a specific service or product; a refund; a new customer signing up; a membership sold or expired; or loyalty points being earned), a Schedule (recurring daily, weekly, or monthly at a chosen time), or a Webhook (triggered by an outside system calling a unique, secured link).
Actions — what happens when the trigger fires: Send Message (a chosen template over WhatsApp or Email), or Tag (add or remove a customer tag, useful for building audiences for later broadcasts or workflows).
The Workflows list shows every workflow with its trigger and action summarized; tap one to see its run history.
Notes & limitations
WhatsApp delivery for automations and workflow messages still requires a connected WhatsApp provider — see WhatsApp Integration.
WhatsApp templates used by automations are subject to the same Meta approval process as Broadcast templates.
